First & last mile trucking
Road legs at both ends of the route: collection from the supplier in China and delivery from the destination station to the consignee's warehouse.
The first mile is the leg from the supplier's warehouse to the terminal, the last mile from the destination station or terminal to the consignee's door. These are where time is usually lost: the cargo is ready but nobody collects it, or the container has arrived but its release has not been arranged. SilkPort Logistics covers both legs by road, agrees loading windows with the supplier and unloading windows with the consignee, and includes these stages in the overall quote so the cost of the shipment is visible as a whole.

Frequently asked questions
Can I order the road leg only?
Yes, collection in China or delivery from the destination station can be a standalone service. In that case we agree the documents and handover point with your current carrier.
What if the consignee is not ready to receive the cargo?
We confirm the unloading date and window in advance. If the consignee is not ready, the cargo goes to temporary storage until a new date is agreed; the terms and cost of that storage are communicated before the vehicle is dispatched.
